The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe (FIOE) urges a rapid humanitarian response in the wake of the Nepal earthquake

The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe (FIOE) expresses its distress regarding the horrific tragedy of the earthquake that hit the Himalayan region, particularly Nepal, resulting in thousands of victims and extensive destruction.

The Federation notes that reports and images from the ground paint a tragic picture of what has occurred, where extensive areas have been reduced to rubble, and local communities have lost the most basic necessities for life.

The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe calls for an urgent and broad humanitarian response to mitigate the effects of the disaster, and contain the huge damage left in its aftermath, praising the campaigns launched by Islamic charitable organisations in Europe for the disaster struck areas.

The Federation expresses its condolences to the countries of the region, and the affected local communities, sharing the feelings of pain with victims’ families in this disaster, and supplicating God Almighty for the swift recovery of the injured, and for those affected to be able to resume their normal lives as quickly as possible.
