The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe: A new international approach to save the Planet is essential

The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe asserts that serious revision is required to save the Planet through an all-inclusive global approach. The Federation considered that the Paris Climate Summit is an important, though overdue event. However, there is no substitute for a critical re-examination of the majority of strategies, policies, and measures affecting the environment and world climate. It is not possible to continue acting complacently on a crucial question impacting the future of every person in the world.

The Federation expressed its concern that the international community over past years had demonstrated significant powerlessness and disappointing negligence in responding to the challenges and threats apparent to everyone in relation to the environment and world climate. It is quite appalling that narrow interests have led to continued harm to the environment with all its catastrophic consequences.

The Federation demanded a new international approach to tackle environmental degradation and climate change. These represent a principal threat to natural environments and the future of human generations and all creatures on our planet.

The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe urged religious bodies and civil society partners, in Europe and around the world, to contribute to the development of effective strategies and measures to push for a new and responsible approach towards the planet in all its constituents, before it is too late. The Federation stressed that Islamic teaching emphasises the importance of responsible treatment of the Planet in all its constituents, and wise and measured stewardship of natural resources, avoiding damage and harm to the environment.
